Mason’s trembling told him just how close he was, and Drew did what he thought would be impossible. He pulled back. He let go of Mason, reveling in the protest he pitched, eyes blazing, fingers clenching the sheets, chest heaving.

“Don’t stop,” he almost growled, and Drew shook his head, raising himself to his knees, gripping Mason’s ankles.

“I have plans for you tonight.” Drew winked and Mason barred his teeth.

“I did too… I planned on coming at least twice,” he said, and Drew gave a serious nod.

“Well then our plans line up,” Drew said, tugging on his ankles. “Turn around.”

  “Wh—what?”

“Turn around,” Drew repeated, and with a final questioning look, Mason rolled around to lie on his stomach, head turned to the side, face pressed into the pillow.

Drew followed after, blanketing him from behind, cock nestling in the crease of his ass and arms bracketing his head. He brought his lips to Mason’s ear, kissing the shell of it gently, blowing warm air onto it, feeling Mason tremble beneath him in the dim lamplight.

“I’m gonna kiss every inch of you…” he whispered softly, punctuating the words with the first of the promised kisses delivered onto his neck. “I’m gonna eat you out. Gonna open you up with my tongue first. Then my fingers. And then… when it feels like too much…”

He trailed off, teasing himself by catching the head of his cock on Mason’s rim. Promising himself he’d be there by the end of their night together. Warning himself to be patient. To give everything to Mason before he took for himself.

“What happens then?” he heard Mason’s staggered whisper.

“Hm?” he asked, and Mason moaned at the little nip Drew placed on his shoulder.

“What… what happens when it gets too much?” he asked, and Drew brought their faces together, claiming his lips in a bruising kiss.

“You’ll see…” he whispered and ran a finger down Mason’s cheek. “Trust me?”

He knew it was a loaded question. But he needed to hear Mason was on board with everything.

“With this? Yes,” Mason said, and it both hurt and thrilled Drew.

Trusting someone when you were the most vulnerable spoke words. It would have to be enough for now. It would be groundwork for what he really wanted.

“Good. Relax then…” Drew said, and with that, words were forgotten.

He slid down Mason’s body, showering kisses, licks and nips down the smooth expanse of his back. Mason’s skinny form allowed for every vertebra to be visible beneath his skin and Drew paid each and every one the same amount of attention. He used it as a roadmap to where he was headed. A guideline, directing his lips lower until he was at his destination.

“Drew…” Mason moaned, pushing his ass off the bed and towards Drew. It was filthy and yet, Drew didn’t think he’d ever seen anything more beautiful.

“Shhh… I got you,” he whispered, hot breath raising goosebumps on Mason’s lower back. He kissed his tailbone, palms framing the firm globes. Pointing his tongue, he ran it down Mason’s crack, causing him to grip the sheets in his palms until his knuckles turned white and a scream was ripped from his throat.

Drew followed the wet line his tongue made with the tip of his finger, catching the rim of Mason’s opening and spending a few long moments teasing him until he was shaking. Fighting the urge to just stare at him for hours, he spread his cheeks and, without warning, licked his opening. He had never tasted anything that suited him more. He circled around the tight ring, coaxing it to relax, to let him in.

When it finally loosened, he wasted no time spearing his tongue inside, tasting him in the most intimate way he could think of. Mason was trembling on the bed, elbows braced against the covers as he lifted himself up and off the bed, trying to get leverage to push himself closer, pull him in deeper. He was rolling his hips, and Drew held tight to them, guiding him. Helping him get the most out of what they were doing. It was all about him.

Sensing they were both tethering on the brink of losing control, Drew brought his finger back, running it a few times back and forth gently before pressing in as slowly as he could. Mason keened, pushing back even more forcibly, surprising Drew and sucking his finger in completely. The slippery heat of him made Drew’s head spin, and he started the excruciating push and pull of his fingers in and out of Mason’s body. Searching for that one place he knew would drive him crazy.

“Look at you…” he whispered, staring in awe at Mason as he writhed on his finger, trying to get Drew to do what he wanted. To go faster, harder, let him fall. But Drew had so much he wanted to do to him. So many things he wanted to make him feel.

Pulling his finger out, he went back in with his lips. His tongue. Licking, biting, sucking, driving him to the edge and then pulling him back just as he’d voice how close he was. He knew there would be hell to pay later when Mason was out of the passion induced incoherency, but for now, he had him where he wanted him. Completely at his mercy.

“Please…” Mason’s voice trembled after another climax was held just out of reach, and there was no way for Drew to prolong it anymore. Lube was suddenly right next to him, along with a condom. He wasn’t sure if Mason was even doing it consciously, or if he was so desperate that he was doing everything he could to push them along. Either way, Drew refused to think on it further.

Between one moment and the next, he had the condom on and was warming lube between his fingers. A single breath later, he was opening Mason up, holding him pinned to the bed by the small of his back.

“Want to come like this?” he asked, tips of his fingers brushing the small bundle of nerves.

Mason keened, shaking his head on the bed wildly. “No… no, Drew, please…” he moaned, words slurring slightly and breath coming out in irregular puffs.

  “What do you want?”

“Want you in me… c’mon…” he pleaded, and Drew always knew he wasn’t strong enough to deny him anything for long.

In a single, long push he buried himself inside his body, blanketing his back. He covered him from head to toe, mindful of how much smaller Mason was than him. His forearms bracketed Mason’s head, and at the first push, Mason clamped his teeth into the flesh of his arm to stifle the sounds that fell from his lips.

“Want to hear you,” Drew said huskily, pulling his arm away, cupping Mason’s cheek and running the tip of his thumb over his swollen lower lip. His hips never ceased their movement, never faltered in rhythm. He was determined to feel Mason’s release before he fell over the edge.

“Drew!” Mason almost screamed, breath wet against Drew’s palm, hips canting off the bed and towards Drew’s in a mindless chase for pleasure.

He lifted his hips a tiny bit higher, and Drew saw him sneaking his hand between his legs to get to his cock. Catching him by the elbow, he pulled his hand back, almost growling into his ear.

“No…” He surprised himself with how forceful that sounded. He was never particularly dominant in bed, but Mason brought out the most primal part of him. He wanted to be responsible for Mason’s pleasure. Just him, his cock moving inside of him and his burning desire to be the only one to touch him like this ever again.

He rose up slightly, pulling Mason by his hips until he was on his hands and knees, holding onto him tight as he pounded into him. He knew it was rough and fast and not at all the way he imagined their lovemaking to be, but he felt raw. Mason wouldn’t let him say the things he needed to say, so this was the only way to let him know.

His movements turned erratic, Mason’s screams got louder, his pleas more desperate. They were inching closer to the edge, and Drew shifted his hips trying to find that spot that was sure to make Mason come before he did. He needed him to come first.

Drew gripped him harder, pulled him into himself, glued Mason’s back to his chest and wrapped his arms around his torso as he drove home, over and over and over again. And with a final scream Mason fell apart, pulling him right along with him.

>   They lurched forward, unable to hold themselves upright, and Drew did his best to land on his side, clutching Mason close to him as they tried to get their bearings again.

Mason was lying in his arms, head pillowed on his shoulder, body still trembling slightly, limbs loose and relaxed. They were both quiet, holding onto each other tight. Drew was staring at the ceiling, occasionally turning his head to deliver a small kiss to Mason’s damp hair. He felt hope rise in his chest as he heard Mason’s breath evening out, slowing, deepening. It sounded like he was on the brink of falling asleep, and he dared to hope… allowed himself to…

He could feel the moment the magic broke between them and Mason came back to reality. He lifted his head off his chest, hair adorably messy and that familiar distance in his eyes eating away at Drew. The wall resurrected between them in mere seconds.

“That was…” he trailed off, chuckling slightly, wrapping the sheet around his body and shielding himself away from Drew.

“Mason…” he tried, but he knew it was pointless.

“It’s getting late,” he whispered, and Drew had had enough.

“Are you gonna kick me out every time we have sex?” he snapped, sitting up.

Mason flinched at the words, eyes meeting his across the minefield that was once the bed. “I’m not kicking you out, I work in the morning and…”

  “Bullshit!”

  “Drew…”

  “It’s absolute bullshit, Mason.”

Mason’s face hardened, those walls reinforcing themselves in front of his eyes. “You agreed to the rules.”

  “Yeah, well…”

“Are you regretting it?” Mason asked, and Drew felt the question like a stab to the gut. No! he wasn’t regretting it because the only thing not agreeing got him was losing Mason completely, and he wasn’t ready to deal with that now.

“No…” he repeated out loud and tried to will his heart to just go with it. They’d take what they could get now, but Mason felt something. Drew just knew it.

“Okay then…” Mason said, awkwardness was hanging in the air, and Drew nodded.

“Okay…” he whispered, collecting his clothes and putting them on. He swayed on his feet, desperate for a goodbye kiss. That too was against the rules.

“Night, Drew,” Mason said, voice small and strangely vulnerable. It pushed his limits, and he swooped in, claiming his lips in a bruising kiss.

He pulled back and was out of the room before Mason had the chance to protest. He wasn’t going down without a fight.

Time with Drew from their agreement in the treehouse had passed in a blur of messy desires and cycles of weakness and control. Mason did his best to stick to the plan, the rules he had set out for both himself and Drew that would minimize the eventual fallout. There were moments though, too many, where he would forget anything existed but the press of bodies and rush of emotions. Mason couldn’t think outside those pockets of space and time, swept away on the tide and floating.

It’s how he found himself on his couch in the afternoon on top of Drew, his favorite place to be, joined in every way they could be without the removal of clothes. Which he was working on, if only he would get some cooperation from the man underneath him who seemed more interested in the ringing phone in his pants than anything else.

Mason made a noise of dissent, still kissing at his mouth. Drew breathed a laugh, reaching for his pocket and turning his head. Mason began kissing down his neck instead, small, insistent pecks meant to drive him insane.

He saw Drew thumb at the screen out the corner of his eye, unlocking the device shakily. “Just give me a sec—”

  Mason felt him freeze.

He felt his heart began to hammer under his hand, and his head dropped back to the armrest of the couch, the phone falling from his hand.

“Drew?” Mason asked, first confused and then panicked as he drew back and looked down at his pale face. “Drew? Are you… is it happening again? You didn’t try to say anything… what’s wrong?”

Drew shook his head, eyes pressed tightly closed. “It’s not that,” he choked out.

“What then?” Mason asked, but he didn’t wait for an answer, he simply moved, coming up on his knees and leaning over to grab Drew’s phone from the floor. It was locked and he tried the first passcode that came to mind: his own birthday.

  It unlocked.

He contemplated the weight of that momentarily, until good sense prevailed, and he pushed it aside, going into Drew’s recent notifications. What he saw made him freeze as well.

  Contact: Domonic Parish

Subject Line: Case 201. Peter Higgs and Reginald Kyle Investigation

  He clicked into it.

It was a simple message. It gave Reginald Kyle’s location and the information that Peter Higgs’ location was still unknown. There was a request if further action was needed in locating the second person still.

  It gave a location.

“He found him…” he said, dumbfounded. “Drew…”

He looked towards him and found him staring at the ceiling, chest still working overtime. He didn’t seem in pain, however. Just overwhelmed. Mason dropped the phone and placed a hand on his chest, the other cupping his face, trying to get him to catch eyes with him. With a little insistence it happened.

  Drew looked lost.

“It’s going to be okay,” Mason whispered. He stroked his cheek soothingly. “This is a good thing, Drew.”

“I know.” He nodded shakily and closed his eyes again. “I know. I know…”

Mason didn’t interrupt as Drew coached himself through it, despite how much he wanted to. He simply settled himself bodily over Drew, head coming to rest under his chin. Arms wrapped around him immediately, hugging him close.

The sound of Drew’s skipping heart was the only noise in the room as Mason left him to his own thoughts, allowing him the space to come to terms with whatever he was wrestling with and offering comfort.

There were some battles, as much as he hated it, he couldn’t help him fight.

“We should…” Mason perked up at the sound rumbling under his ear. “We should let Malachi know… right?” He sounded painfully unsure.

Mason nodded against him. “He’ll need to come with us… especially if Reggie has access to a grimoire.”

“What if he doesn’t. What if Pete has it? What if neither of them has it?”

The question was one neither of them had voiced aloud before.

Mason raised up to look him in the eyes. “One will. Something like that… you don’t just leave it somewhere.”

  Drew snorted. “Right.”

“Your parents were irresponsible assholes,” Mason growled. “But it doesn’t change the fact that I don’t think those two would have let it out of their sight. As far as they knew, after Troy died, they were on the run, they wouldn’t get rid of their biggest asset to helping them get away or hide. I think one of them still has it… if not Reggie, then we’ll get him to tell us where Pete is… And if they ditched it, we’ll get them to tell us where they put it. We’ll figure it out Drew, I promise.”

  Drew nodded. “I trust you.”

Mason’s breath hitched, and he ducked back down into Drew’s chest with his heart in his throat.

He closed his eyes and didn’t say it back.

Drew was pacing in front of the car at six A.M. the next day. The sky was still a mixture of orange and purple, the sun barely cresting the Town Hall. The nights snowfall was piled up in pristine clumps around them, disturbed only by rare signs of wildlife.

It was setting Mason’s teeth on edge, but he didn’t tell him to stop. Honestly, he was expecting more than a little pacing given the situation.

“Where is he?” Drew finally burst out, turning to face him.

Mason scowled from his perch atop the hood of his car. “I don’t know, he could be off talking to the lake for all I know. He doesn’t understand the concept of TIME MANAGEMENT!” he shouted into the ether, hoping the words wou
ld find themselves to Malachi Tarrenwood somehow through the universe.

“Well, I wouldn’t say that exactly,” a voice from behind him said.

Mason jumped in surprise, sliding off the car. Drew caught him and steadied him on his feet.

“A little heads up next time?” Mason muttered to Drew.

“I honestly have no idea where he came from,” Drew said, looking genuinely confused.

Mason sighed and turned to the witch.

He was dressed in the same bleached bomber jacket he had on at Darian’s that first time, paired with a distressed-beyond-repair pair of jeans and winter boots. Somehow, he made it work.

“Are you not going to be cold? It’s on the brink of freezing,” Mason said. “And where’s your bag? You did understand that we’re stopping overnight, right?”

“I had this talk once already this morning,” Mal said with a roll of his eyes. It was the most ‘normal’ thing he had ever seen the witch do. “Are we going then? We’re in a hurry, yes? Stop dawdling.”

The witch opened the backdoor of the car and slid himself in, ignoring the sound of Mason’s spluttering.

“Breathe,” Drew coached gently from behind him, running his hands over his shoulders and then down his arms.

  “No!”

“Mason,” Drew cajoled, leaning into his ear. “You can’t start the journey wanting to kill him.”

Mason tilted his head away but didn’t move, he was enjoying soaking in Drew’s closeness.

“It’s just a few days,” Drew continued.

“Putting up with his enigmatic witch ass for a few days will kill me. He thinks he knows everything!”

  “Well… he knows a lot…”

Mason spun around. “Oh, does he now. Since when are you the expert?”

Drew opened and closed his mouth a few times. “Well, I mean… it’s just…”
